Can haunted places be worshipped? Well, in Hindu religion, every entity has a significant relevance in the way of life. When you just imagine that everything on this Earth has been deciphered, the Universe comes with something that is beyond explanation. Mehandipur Balaji Temple is among one of the many haunted places in India. It has a special place in the map as it is a sacred place meant exclusively for the exorcism of ghosts and witches. The Mehandipur Balaji Temple is considered as gateway into the third world- the world of the Spirits.

Mehandipur Balaji Temple is the only temple in India where live exorcism takes place and millions of videos float over the internet capturing the action on screen. Most people visit the temple to remove the evil eyes from the body of their friends, relatives and kin. There are some adventurous individuals who visit the Mehandipur Balaji Temple for the sheer joy and excitement of encountering a new identity. The most eerie part of the journey from New Delhi to Mehandipur Balaji Temple is the fact that the GPS compass keeps floating all over the screen, leading you  to wrong places. Unless, you are absolutely sure of the roads, it is a tricky route to the lost world.

Mehandipur Balaji Temple is just over 100 kilometres from Jaipur. It is located in a deep pocket of a sacred village in Dausa. The village has a unique charm to its ambience. Almost every house her will sport a black curtain as if to show their solidarity with the practices carried out in the Mehandipur Balaji Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Hanuman in his child form. The temple is divided into chambers. Each chamber specifically houses the idols of Lord Hanuman and Lord Bhairav. Both idols symbolize the presence of Lord Shiva. Hanuman and Bhairava are the comic forms of Lord Shiva. It is a popular notion that the spirits; Bhoot, Pisach and Nisacharas, are ardent followers of Lord Swayambhu Shiva. Since Hanuman is the protector from all evils, the Mehandipur Balaji Temple is an ideal place to free the body from spirits.

A special chamber in the Mehandipur Balaji Temple is dedicated to carry out exorcism. People come into the chamber and bang their heads against the pillars erected here. Some scratch the walls and the floors while others roll along the floors. These actions symbolize the presence of negative energy within them which is trying to get out of the body. Lashings and beatings by the pandits signify that the exorcism is within control. The supernatural intervention is obvious and can be felt by the visitors themselves. The walls bear a greyish shade while the floors feel as if they have been dripped with ice water. As you enter the Mehandipur Balaji Temple, the priests offer the sweet offerings. They are black in colour and are not meant to be eaten. They are in fact meant to be thrown into the Holy Fire lit to keep the evil spirits in their Underworld. Throwing the balls into the kunds ensure that the world remains free from such sprits that haunt people.
