Hindu Wedding Rituals, Ceremony and Vidhi

  1. The Wedding initiates with Dulhan’s family visiting Dulha’s family (Swastivachan mantra aur sankalp, Ganesh ki aur Gauri ki Puja, Sodasmatri ka Pujan, Kalash Pujan, Navgraha ki Pujan)
  2. Fal-daan aur Tilak-sanskaar ki vidhi hogi.
  3. The Wedding card will be written and worshiped i.e. Lagan Patrika Likhna aur uska Pujan.
  4. Get mud from outside and do its Puja i.e. mitti ka Pujan
  5. Mandap Muhurat ki Puja
  6. Both, the Bride & Groom are applied oil and turmeric i.e. Tel aur Haldi lagana
  7. Then, near the Mandap Shil-pahona ki Puja
  8. This is followed by Kuldevta aur Kuldevi Pujan
  9. Bandhanvar Pujan i.e. tying a Toran.
  10. Tranmatrika Pujan i.e. Kans ke ped ki Puja
  11. Mandap-matrika Pujan: Puja of the Mandap
  12. Sthal matrika Pujan & Kunhwar ki Puja
  13. Dev-pirtra Nimantran: Worshiping all the Gods, Goddesses & Ancestor
  14. Shubh-Nandi Shraddh: Seeking the blessings from ancestors by meditating & doing their Puja
  15. The wedding then begins at the wedding venue.
  16. The door is worshiped and its Puja is performed i.e. Dwar Pujan
  17. Swastivachan is done at the door
  18. Var-Pujan is performed at the door
  19. Durga Janaeu: The Pandit is made to wear the Janaeu
  20. Chadhav: The Dulhan will come near the Mandap and the Puja will be done
  21. The Mangal Sholkas will be read by the Pandit i.e. Shanti Paath
  22. Ladke ka Dadhi-Vandan
  23. Kush ke Ped will be kept below the Groom’s leg for the Do Vishtar
  24. Argh i.e. Holy water will be ofPhered to the Gods & Goddesses
  25. The father of the Dulha & Dulhan will drink the holy water thrice (teen baar aasman karna)
  26. The Bride’s father while remembering all the Devi Devtas will do Jal Arpan symbolizing that their feet are being cleaned and then, he will also do the same with the Groom
  27. The Bride’s father will do Tilak to the Groom
  28. All the seven oceans will be worshiped
  29. Kanya ke pita var ko Madhupark (Sehad, Ghee aur Dahi ka mishran) chakaayenge i.e. Bride’s father will make the Groom have Madhupark
  30. Groom will have to touch all his body parts i.e. Angon ka Sparsh karna
  31. The father of the Dulhan will drink the holy water thrice (teen baar aasman karna)
  32. The father of the Bride will touch Aam ka patta or Kush ki Daali at the Groom’s Mori i.e. Shaadi ka Sehra
  33. Sabhi devi-devtaon ka Pujan i.e. All Gods & Goddesses will be worshiped
  34. Agni Sthapana in the Havan i.e. Fire will be ignited in the Havan-Kund.
  35. Ladki mandap main aayegi i.e. The Bride will arrive at the Wedding Shamiana
  36. The Pandit will chant the Swastivachan mantras i.e. Hymns
  37. Ladki paschim ki aur mukh karke uske pita ki aage bethegi aur Ladke ka muh purv ki aur rahega i.e. Girl and boy will be facing each other wherein the Bride will be facing west and Groom will be facing east
  38. Var aur kanya ke Pandit 3-3 baar saankho-chaar karenge i.e. Pandit from both the sides will remember which Kul they belong to and remember three generation of their ancestors
  39. The Kanyadaan ritual will be performed by the Dulhan’s father using Kush, Akshata aur Drib
  40. Haath pile karne ki rasam i.e. The Bride’s father using a paste of turmeric will yellow the hands of the Dulhan
  41. The Bride’s father & mother will worship the couple’s feet i.e. Per pujne ki vidhi
  42. Gau (Cow) aur Dhaan(Grain) i.e. Gau-Dhaan ka sankalp hoga
  43. Havan Kund ke chaaron aur Kush bechayenge i.e. Kush will be spread across the Havan-Kund
  44. Aahuti di jaayegi
  45. A yellow cloth will be kept between the couple and five times offerings will be put in the Havan
  46. The Dulhan’s brother will perform Lajahoma i.e. Dhaan ki Aahuti Dena
  47. Girl will keep her leg on a Shila and the Boy will move it to the left
  48. Granthi vandan hoga (A knot will be tied for the sacred rounds i.e. Pheras)
  49. Dulhan apne saath vachan manvayegi ladke ko aur ladka apne teen vachan ladki ko manvayega
  50. If it’s a morning marriage then, Surya ke Darshan and if it’s a night marriage then, Dhrau Taare ke Darshan
  51. Hridayalambhan karenge
  52. Sindoor-daan or maang bharana i.e. The Dulha will apply Sindoor to Dulhan’s forehead)
  53. The Bride’s family will fill the Saree of the Bride i.e. Dulhan ki God-Bharai
  54. The seven sacred rounds i.e. Saath Phere will be performed
  55. Gone ki prakriya (All the Devis & Devtas will be worshiped)
  56. Kanya ke pita var-kanya ke per pujenege i.e. Father of the Bride will worship the feet of the married couple
  57. Finally, the Vidai Puja will be performed
